• "I can't believe a week has passed since Ray,Margie and I came to your fantastic event showcasing so many different aspects of your vibrant, charming city. The opening at Kersting Court was recognition of the talented students from Alverno High School, the Gooden School, St. Ritas and Bethany Christian School for excellence in Fine Arts. Their performances on the keyboard,and the reading of their essays was an affirmation of the goals of the schools honored. I was struck by their compassion and understanding of helping children who are afflicted with cleft palate or cleft lip. It showed their wish to help others and to raise awareness in the community about the availabiity of a solution for those afflicted. These lessons will stay with them for life.
  I spoke with the children standing by their school information displays and they all spoke with pride in the education they were receiving.They were polite, articulate and representative of a community with parental involvement.
  The opening of the Food Court was fun and delicious with great tastes from Greek food at Corfu to pork chops stuffed with green apples presented by the Chefs sumer school (possibly Cordon Bleu) in Pasadena.. Sierra Madre must definitely be a culinary destination as well as a gift center for distinctive items.
  The entire day was packed with interesting events from kitchen tours to chocolate truffle demonstration.. We walked to the Sierra Madre Elementary Auditorium to hear the Late Bloomers. They were great and I was amazed to learn that one of the female leads was an elementary school Principal. There was so much more good music to come and I regretted that we had to leave. Next year we block out the entire day. We had a great time and loved Sierra Madre. I think it is one of the best kept secrets in the LA Basin."
